I think the idea of creating the best nationwide zero to low budget movie could be a really good challenge for those of us who are starting out, amatuers and pro's.

We would need a team leader but that would come later. There are several people that live in the same places, but because everyone is all over the place, filming and alike could become quite hassled and inconvienient. But why worry about that yet?

The main issue is to get a team of people with the same frame of mind, not doing it for the glamour that really isn't there at this stage, but for the quality and satisfaction of the end product, to show off our capabilities etc.

Chance1234 is obsolutely right. A leader is needed and one right from the start. As an example, I've been involved as a newsreader for several RSL radio stations. These go on for a month to prove to the authorities that it can be a viable business before competing for the licence for a particular frequency.

Everytime, a bunch of enthusiasts would join up and be highly motivated to produce a fantastic product. Within a week, squabbles would break out, back stabbing start and people would get demorilised and drop out. Why?

Beacuse there was no cement between the bricks. No one person who could manage and direct everyone. No one to bring it all together. Et voila.

It's surprising how quickly grown men and woman degenerate into a school classroom with no teacher. Shame really but that's humans.

Just go out an do it, and more importantly keep doing it. after a while when people realise you are serious and dont have time for timewasters you start getting more serious people coming to you. but i say you have got to stick at it 100% use people as stepping stones if you have to. and dont take any shit

also plenty of alcohol, caffeine and nicotine is a great help

I think your 'first' film is your hardest. First of all you dont know what you are doing, but also more importantly no one will have any real faith in you until you prove yourself - why should they? They cant read your mind.
Once you have something to show people they will be happier to help you out, and also more likely understand where you are coming from and what you want. You have also proved your dedication, and dont need to keep harping on about it.
Until then you have to keep on going alone, until you drop, then get up and carry on until you sweat blood, then do it again and again and again and again until its finished.

This is why I cant imagine anyone wanting to do this for the fame, money and glory. Its so incredibly unlikely that you will make any money from this game, you just cant do it for the riches.

If you are a one person motivated team then so be it. if you do it for long enough eventually you will meet some like minded people and hang out with them long enough to do what you want.

It seems to me most low budget first films take about 3 years to make - look around, Mariachi, Bad Taste, Evil Dead, Clerks..... Pretty overwhelming I know, but perhaps it takes that to teach you how to be efficient and make the most of your limitations.
A friend of mine is now a mildly succesful author. It took him 3 years to write his first book. His second took 6 months. Both have been published.
Go figure.
